What cookies are

Cookies are small files stored in your browser. We use them only where needed to run The Big Bookcase or, with your permission, to measure public-site traffic.

Essential cookies

These are required for sign-in and the preview app. Clerk sets session cookies when you log in. We do not use these for advertising. They are not optional while you use an account.

Analytics cookies (optional)

On public pages only, we offer Google Analytics if you click "Accept analytics" in the cookie banner. Google may set cookies such as _ga to distinguish visits. We do not load Google Analytics on signed-in library routes unless you accepted analytics on a public page in the same browser.

If you choose "Essential only", we do not load Google Analytics. Vercel Web Analytics may still record aggregate page views without the same cookies; see our Privacy Policy.

Changing your choice

Your analytics choice is stored in your browser (big-bookcase:cookie-consent:v1). To change it, clear site data for The Big Bookcaseor use a private window and choose again when the banner appears. We plan to add a "Cookie settings" link in the footer for one-click changes.
