Privacy Policy

Who we are

The Big Bookcase (https://www.bigbookcase.com) is operated by the independent team building this project. For privacy questions or data-rights requests, email privacy@bigbookcase.com.

What we collect

Waitlist and research survey: email, optional name, and your answers about what you collect and what you want from the product.
Preview app account: sign-in data handled by Clerk, plus the library items, covers, and settings you save in your account.
Analytics: if you accept analytics cookies on public pages, Google Analytics receives page views and interaction data. We also use Vercel Web Analytics for aggregate page-view metrics across the site.
Technical logs: standard server and security logs from our host (Vercel) and database provider (Neon).

Why we use it

To run the service, authenticate you, and store your library (contract / legitimate interest).
To email you about early access when you join the waitlist (consent).
To measure public-site traffic when you opt in to analytics cookies (consent).
To keep the service secure and reliable (legitimate interest).

Processors we use

We rely on service providers that process data on our behalf, including Vercel (hosting and analytics), Neon (database), Clerk (authentication), Google (Analytics, when you consent), and Vercel Blob (cover and file storage). Your library is private by default; we do not sell personal data for advertising or model training.

Retention

Waitlist data is kept until you ask us to delete it or until it is no longer needed for early-access outreach. Account and library data is kept while your account is active. You can export your library from Settings in the preview app.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, or to object to certain processing. Contact us at privacy@bigbookcase.com. We aim to respond within 30 days.

International transfers

Our processors may store or process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses offered by those providers.
